Osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD)

An abnormal development of the cartilage on the end of a bone in the joint. Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD or OD) is an inflammatory condition that occurs when the diseased cartilage separates from the underlying bone.

CHD

Congenital heart disease (congenital heart defect) is one or more abnormalities in a dog’s heart structure that they are born with. Often requires surgical intervention or lifelong medication.

Cranial cruciate ligament rupture

An important ligament inside the knee (stifle) joints of dogs. Can be damaged acutely (often through play or exercise) or can progressively deteriorate with age. Once ruptured, the knee joint becomes unstable and requires surgical stabilisation, especially in medium and large breed dogs. Arthritis often results.

Hip dysplasia

an abnormal formation of the hip socket, which causes inflammation, arthritis and in its most severe form crippling lameness.
