Aortic stenosis

The narrowing of the aortic valve, which controls the blood flow from the left ventricle (one of the dog's four heart chambers) to the aorta.

Elbow dysplasia

A condition involving multiple developmental abnormalities of the elbow-joint in the dog, specifically the growth of cartilage or the structures surrounding it. If untreated, can lead to painful arthritis and lameness.

Hip Dysplasia

  • An abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its more severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints.

Atopy

  • Itchy skin that is caused by an allergic response to an inhaled environmental allergen - often referred to as being like asthma in humans.

Cataracts

  • A clouding of the normally clear lens of the eye, leading to vision difficulties and sometimes blindness.
